What happens if the vehicle is misused?

If the car is misused, the insurance can be void and the partner can end the hire and recover the car. You pay the full cost of any damage, recovery and repairs, and you may be refused future bookings.

Can the vehicle be used for illegal activity?

No. The car can never be used for anything illegal. Suspected illegal use is reported to the police, the hire is ended, the car is recovered, and the insurance won't cover any loss.

Can the vehicle be recovered if misused?

Yes. Every car has a tracker, so if it's misused, not returned or driven by someone not on the booking, the partner can find it and recover it. The recovery cost can be charged to you.

What happens if the vehicle is not returned?

If the car isn't returned on time and you can't be reached, the partner uses the tracker to find and recover it. If it still isn't returned, and you can't be contacted, within 24 hours of the return time, it's reported to the police as stolen.

What if incorrect information is provided?

If you give false or incorrect details, the partner can refuse to release the car or end the hire, and the insurance can be void. Deliberately false details are treated as fraud and can be reported to the police.

Can the vehicle be immobilised?

Yes, some cars can be immobilised remotely through their tracker. It's only used for theft, non-return or serious misuse, and only when the car is safely stopped, so it never cuts out while you're driving.

What happens if tracking systems are tampered with?

Tampering with, blocking or removing the tracker is serious misuse. The partner can end the hire and recover the car straight away, the insurance can be void, and it can be reported to the police.

What if the vehicle is used outside agreed terms?

Using the car outside the terms of your booking breaks your hire agreement. The insurance can be void, the partner can end the hire and recover the car, and you pay any costs that follow.

Can misuse affect future bookings?

Yes. Misuse, unpaid charges, repeated fines, false details or abusive behaviour towards staff or partners can lead partners to refuse your future bookings through Autofusion.
